Barnes & Noble recently cut the prices of its Nook HD tablets in the UK, but the price cuts now got extended to the US too and Amazon is fighting back with price cuts of its own Fire HD tablets (again both in the UK and in the US).
In the US the 7″ B&N Nook HD costs $129 for the 8GB version and $149 for the 16GB version. In the UK the prices are £99 and £129 respectively.
The 7″ Amazon Kindle Fire HD is $169 for the 16GB version and $199 for the 32GB version. That’s with Special offers (i.e. ads on the lockscreen), add $15 if you want a Fire HD without them.
In the UK, the Fire HD is £139 for the 16GB version and £159 for the 32GB version. Again, add £10 if you want to remove Special offers.
By the way, the Nooks have some advantages over the Kindles – full access to the Play Store and a microSD card slot. The Kindle Fires can only access the Amazon App Store and don’t have memory card slots.
The 9″ B&N Nook HD+ is $149 / $179 or £149 / £179 for 16GB / 32GB built-in storage (this one has a microSD card slot too).
The price cuts are for a limited time only, so you might want to hurry up.
