Samsung says its ChatOn messaging service will remain available worldwide

A couple of days ago a report surfaced in South Korean media claiming that Samsung was getting ready to shut down its ChatOn messaging service, which has failed to challenge WhatsApp, Viber, and Facebook Messenger in terms of user base.

Now though, the Korean company has officially stated that the aforementioned information is false, and that ChatOn will live on.

The exact statement goes like this: “The recent rumors concerning ChatOn have been false, as ChatOn will continue to be offered to consumers worldwide”. The cited report claimed Samsung would shut down the messaging service on a region-by-region basis, in those markets where it isn’t profitable. This was said to be part of the company’s efforts to restructure unprofitable businesses.
