Verizon to start selling Nexus 7 (2013) on February 13

Verizon just announced that the Nexus 7 with LTE will be available on its network this Thursday. No, there’s no new Nexus 7 tablet, this is the 2013 edition of the Google slate. It’s exactly the same device that went on sale in the US in September last year, just that now it has (finally!) received certification to use Verizon’s LTE.

There was some finger-pointing between Verizon, Google and Asus that ended with the carrier deciding to wait for Android KitKat update, citing issues with the Jelly Bean software.

Anyway, for a time you’ll be able to snag a Nexus 7 (2013) with LTE online and in stores starting February 13. For a limited time, the price is $250 but you’ll need to sign a contract. The LTE-enabled version of the tablet currently goes for $350 at the Play Store.

People who already own the tablet and wanted to use it on Verizon’s network can now do so, but only after they update to Android 4.4 KitKat. The tablet can be added to your Share Everything plan for $10 a month.
