Sony Ericsson Xperia active comes by, bullies around all the other phones

The Xperia active has kindly dropped by for a visit here at GSMArena’s headquarters in all of its IP67 certified glory. It’s water-proof up to a meter depth, it’s splash resistant too and can withstand some dirt in its face just in case.

We’ll get started with this bad boy but in the mean time we thought we could put together a UI demo and an unboxing for your viewing pleasure.

The Xperia active will most likely fail to impress Android fans that want the dual-core processing and top notch north-of-4″ displays of the Super-something breed but it does offer a very tough exterior and is quite the looker too.

On the front it features a 3-incher of HVGA (320×480) resolution but it comes with the Bravia Mobile display engine for superior contrast and it is LED-backlit. Under the hood there lies a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and 512MB of RAM that give you spoils like HD (720p) recording, full Flash support in the browser and a very zippy performance. Imaging is represented by a 5 MP snapper and the latest (available) Android version – 2.3 Gingerbread.

It comes with the custom Sony Ericsson Android UI for smaller displays, the custom Facebook integration, the Timescape social UI and a very colorful exterior (ours has brightly orange highlights) and there’s a choice of either white or black back panel. We’ll be bringing you guys a review of the Xperia active so stay tuned.
