Samsung release source kernel for AT&T’s Galaxy S II. Phone isn’t even out yet

For all the whining that goes on, waiting for carrier specific updates or other bits of goodness to hit, sometimes long after the vanilla content has made it into the wild, we have to hand it to Samsung.

AT&T's SGS II

Those in charge of releasing the source kernel for their devices are really on the ball right now. I’m talking overtly efficient, as the source kernel for the AT&T flavored Galaxy S II is now available and we’re still waiting on the device itself.

Assuming all goes to plan, the AT&T S II will be up for grabs from October 2nd, but thanks to the speedy Samsung team, developers can start making device-friendly creations in time for launch. This following on from the S II Epic 4G Touch getting its kernel release simultaneously to launch.

Now all that’s left is to see whether T-Mo’s S II can beat this new record, we’ll have to wait and see. Check out the source link to get your hands on said kernel and get cracking, less than a week left!
