The Samsung Galaxy Core LTE’s visit to our office ends up with its full battery life test. The phone is oriented towards those seeking an LTE phone on a budget without compromising battery life. We’ll see if the Galaxy Core LTE fits the bill.
At least on paper, it appears this to be the case. The Galaxy Core LTE sports a 2,100mAh battery, which is more than decent for a 4.5″ qHD screen. However, we’re not sure it’ll be enough to cover the losses from the ageing Cortex-A9 CPU architecture, which isn’t as power efficient as its more modern rivals.
In the talk test, the Galaxy Core LTE performs excellently with a result of 22 hours and 13 minutes. This is the best result by an affordable droid so far. The Sony Xperia SP comes close at nearly 20 hours (19:49h) but the Core LTE is truly impressive when it comes to talk time.

The web browsing test was supposed to take its toll on the dual-core Cortex-A9 CPU, but the Galaxy Core managed 9 hours and 37 minutes. That’s a great result, and even more so considering the Lumia 625 scores just above 7 hours.

The video playback component of the battery life test brings the Galaxy Core LTE’s ranking down. The phone manages to play 5 hours and 34 minutes of video before its battery percentage reaches 10. It’s not the worse we’ve seen out of a smartphone, but out of the latest batch of affordable smartphones, the Core LTE’s has the worst battery drain when it comes to playing video.

The endurance rating for the Galaxy Core LTE is great at 62 hours. It will easily take you through a couple of days without charging if you stick to our standardized usage pattern – an hour of calls, an hour of web browsing and an hour of video watching per day.
Judging by the battery endurance rating of the Galaxy Core LTE we can safely assume the Galaxy Core LTE will best fit those who will primarily use it for placing calls and web browsing. Video watcher will find themselves looking for charger quite often, thoguh.
If you want to know more about the Galaxy Core LTE head to the full review.
