Opera Mini 8 for iOS comes with a complete redesign

Opera Mini for iOS has been fully revamped, now sporting a much more modern UI, which falls in line with the iOS 7 guidelines. Hence, Opera Mini 8 for iOS uses the very fashionable flat design, yet retains the features that have made it famous.

It’s still able to save you mobile data, and you can choose from two compression modes. And if you don’t like the new default look, you can change it by picking another theme.

The Opera Mini compression mode offers you the greatest data savings, up to 90%. This is extremely useful for slow connections or those of you on very small data plans. Then there’s the Opera Turbo mode, which gives you up to 50% traffic savings while providing better looking images and the likes. And of course you can simply turn off compression altogether, to ensure maximum compatibility with websites.

The Discover feature delivers tailored news content and is just a swipe to the left away from Speed Dial, the de facto homepage of Opera Mini. All the open tabs are now shown in a stacked view that makes multitasking easier, and you can go through them by swiping left or right. A swipe up on any tab closes it.

The search bar has been merged into the address bar (Google Chrome-style), and the browser now has a built-in QR reader. It’s also easier to switch search providers.

Opera Mini 8 for iOS is available now for free in the iTunes App Store, for iPhone and iPad.
