Olympus releases firmware updates for its Micro Four Thirds cameras, speeds up focusing

Just as promised, Olympus released the v1.1 firmware for their Micro Four Thirds PEN cameras. It promises a significant speed improvement of the autofocus and the first tests show that does a very good job.

DPreview were kind enough to test the E-PL1 running this latest firmware against the E-P2 against the Panasonic G1, which previously had a great advantage in terms of focus speed. As it turns out the recently released Olympus PEN E-PL1 even manages to outperform the Panasonic G1 when both have the Panasonic 14-45mm kit lens attached.

All Micro Four Thirds camera owners may now head to the Olympus Digital Camera Update software application and update their cameras right away.
