Nokia HERE Maps for Windows Phone gets updated data

Nokia’s HERE Maps for Windows Phone has received a hefty update of its underlying map data. It brings with it better mapping in certain countries, nicer looking 3D landmarks in some cities, as well as point address rendering in more places.

The latter means you’re able to see at a glance where addresses and buildings are are on each street. Seeing exact addresses on the map is obviously helpful, as long as the feature is available in enough places and is accurate.

This point address rendering is now live in France, South Africa, the Netherlands, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Russia, Ukraine, the Baltics, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovakia, Israel, Kazakhstan, and Puerto Rico.

The latest update has better quality textures for 3D landmarks, with more detail available for the most famous locations. Also, the map of Mauritius has been completely revamped, with comprehensive street coverage.

To get the updated data on your Windows Phone you need to head over to Settings > Applications > Maps and tap the Check for updates box. The update is incremental, so you’ll only download the things that have changed.
