Microsoft Windows 10 updates will be delivered via peer-to-peer connection

Windows 10 users will have the option to install firmware updates via peer-to-peer connection. An upcoming preview of the OS by Microsoft reveals the new option.

The new functionality will allow users to install updates more quickly – via PC’s on a local network, or a combination of PCs and Microsoft servers. Typically, the Redmond giant delivers app and firmware updates from a single source.

Back in 2013, Microsoft acquired the peer-to-peer tech firm Pando Networks. The latter’s solution is likely going to be utilized to deliver the firmware updates.
