Last year, Microsoft released a version of Office for the iOS platform but it wasn’t what everyone had expected. For starters, it was only available on the iPhone and not the iPad where it would be more suitable and secondly, it was a free app that was limited to only those who had an Office 365 subscription.
Microsoft will now be rectifying the first problem by unveiling the iPad version of the ‘Office Mobile for Office 365 subscribers’ on March 27 at an event in San Francisco. The event will be hosted by Microsoft’s new CEO, Satya Nadella, and will be his first since taking up the position.
As for the app itself, it is said that it will be similar to the iPhone version, allowing full editing and creating of Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents but only if you have an Office 365 subscription. Any documents you create in the app will be synced across devices using OneDrive making them accessible from anywhere. The iPad version will likely be free as well.
