Microsoft Office for Android tablets preview makes it to the Play Store, gains Lollipop support

Last November, Microsoft launched a preview of Office for Android tablets. However, this was only available to you after you completed a survey, and if you then got invited. Starting today, though, the preview has thankfully arrived on the Google Play Store, which is where you can go to download the Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps for Android tablets.

What’s more, there’s now support for Android 5.0 Lollipop, so those of you who have Android’s latest on your tablet can finally try out the Office apps too.

Previously, the preview was limited to devices running Android 4.4 KitKat. You still can’t use these apps if you’re on an older iteration of Google’s mobile operating system, and you need a tablet with a screen size between 7″ and 10.1″ (so larger ones like Samsung’s Galaxy Note Pro or Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 are excluded for now). Oh, and only ARM-based devices need apply (sorry Intel fans).

Microsoft says it’s very interested in your feedback, so if you download and use the Office apps for Android tablets, make sure to let the software giant know what you think over in its dedicated Google+ community.
