Microsoft demonstrates a game running on Windows 7, Windows Phone 7 and Xbox 360

Microsoft demoed a cross-platform game during the TechEd Middle East 2010. The game ran on their three most popular platforms – Windows 7, Windows Phone 7 and Xbox 360 sharing the saved files between them.

Thanks to the Xbox Live service we will be able to sync and use our saved games any time on any of the three platforms. This is really cool and will definitely make a breakthrough in the cross-platform gaming.

Of course, you will need a game title compatible with at least two of these platforms, which limits the possibilities big time. As we all know most of the Xbox 360 games are exclusives and will never land on PC, while the games that will be able to run on both Windows Phone 7 and Xbox 360 will look like that on the demo video – jump’n’run, some simple racers or RPG’s. But given the mobile hardware evolution, one day may be, just may be, we will see a lite version of Gears of War ported to Windows Phone 7.
