Kernel sources for Sony’s Android flagships now available at GitHub

Sony has decided to be even more friendly towards the Android developer community, by making kernel sources for its Xperia Android devices accessible through GitHub.

This means things will get significantly easier for developers who tinker with Sony’s hardware and create custom ROMs and kernels for its handsets.

The biggest advantages of the move to GitHub are that developers can now integrate, track, and review code changes in a much easier way. Sony boasts that this will “literally” save developers “hours of work” compared to the system used before when they had to manually check for differences.

The company promises to make kernel sources for more of its devices available on GitHub soon, but for now only flagships are covered. If you’re a developer and want to dive in, Sony has provided the explanation of how to do that in its blog post on the matter.
