The indoor maps are one of the coolest features of Google Maps, but the coverage is rather limited for now, meaning you don’t get to use it as often as you might like. It’s good to know though that the developers are working on that and have just announced newly-added map data for 22 new museums and a zoo.
The newly supported venues include the de Young Museum in San Francisco, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Cincinnati Museum Center, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the American Museum of Natural History and 17 Smithsonian museums, as well as the Smithsonian National Zoological Park.
All you need to do to access the newly added floor plans is open Google Maps on your Android phone or tablet and zoom in on the museum of interest. Naturally you can also get indoor walking directions which can come in handy when visiting these museums.
