Fuji S1 is the first ever weather resistant bridge camera

Fuji announced the S1: the first weather resistant bridge camera. It offers a 50x optical zoom lens, full HD video recording, built-in Wi-Fi, and a dust and water-resistant body.

The camera boasts 70 different areas that are weather-sealed and the optical zoom is the equivalent of 24-1200mm (when breaking it down in 35mm camera terms). It has a 16.4MP backlit CMOS sensor It’s aperture range is f/2.8-5.6.

The S1′s lens also offers two aspherical and four ED lenses in a 13 element/ 11 groups structure. It was specifically designed to increase the sharpness of photos and cut back on aberration. Ghosting and flare should be kept under control by the S1′s super EBC coating.

Fuji also announced other models in addition to the S1. The XP70 is another new snapper that can brave the elements. It carries a 16.4MP sensor and is also water, shock, freeze, and rust proof.

Two newer cameras without weather-proofing are the S9400W and S9200. Each of these models flaunt 50x optical zooms, along with a specifically designed for video recording image stabilization system, and 16.2MP CMOS sensors. The difference between the two is that the S9400W has built-in Wi-Fi.

Lastly, Fuji also announced the Finepix S8600 with a 36x Fujinon zoom lens and 16MP CCD sensor.
