Asus unveiled two new Transformer Pads, Android 4.4 powered tablets with keyboard docks. Those shouldn’t be confused with the three other Transformers unveiled today as they are mostly Windows devices.
Anyway, the two new tablets both fall under “Transformer Pad” name but they are actually two fairly different 10.1″ tablets.
The TF303CL has a 10.1″ IPS screen with 1,920 x 1,200 pixel resolution and 178° viewing angles. It’s powered by a quad-core Intel Atom Z3745 processor running at 1.86GHz and comes complete with 2GB of RAM. It has a 5MP main camera and 2MP front-facing camera, plus 16GB or 32GB of built in storage, plus a microSD card.
On the connectivity side, there’s LTE Cat. 4 (150Mbps down, 50Mbps up), DC-HSPA+ (42Mbps down, 5.76Mbps up), Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI and GPS + GLONASS.
The Transformer Pad TF303CL tablet measures 257.4 x 178.4 x 9.9mm and weighs 595g. Adding the keyboard dock doubles the thickness to 19.8mm and weight goes up to 1.1kg. The keyboard dock boasts chiclet keys with 1.9mm of travel, plus function keys for Delete and Screen Grab.
The TF303CL has front-facing stereo speakers and will be available in Blue and Gold.
The TF103C is the entry-level version of the tablet above. It changes the screen to another IPS panel, this one with 1,280 x 800 resolution and 170° viewing angles. The processor is the same, but RAM gets cut in half to 1GB and so do the storage options, 8GB or 16GB (but the microSD card slot stays in place).
The Transformer Pad TF103C also loses the LTE connectivity and the camera combo drops to 2MP / 0.3MP.
This one also has stereo speakers, but they are on the back. The color options are Black and White.
