It looks like Microsoft has a Google Chromecast competing device in development. Filings in FCC and the Wi-Fi alliance revealed the Redmond giant’s potential plans.
The filings reveal that the gadget will pack Wi-Fi, HDMI, and a USB port – right in line with what the Google Chromecast has to offer. Microsoft’s creation however, will utilize Miracast to transmit content from a Windows Phone device or a PC to a larger display.
An attempt by Microsoft to challenge the Chromecast surely makes sense. Fresh off its first birthday, Google’s highly affordable TV stick has enjoyed worldwide popularity and stellar sales. A similarly or lower priced competitor from Redmond might just help it steal some of its rival’s momentum.
