Tizen tablet available for developers in Japan

An under-the-radar company called Systena has launched a 10.1″ Tizen tablet in Japan. Don’t get too excited though as the slate is aimed exclusively at developers working with the OS.

The Systena-made tablet is part of a larger developer toolkit, which includes manuals, consulting services from the company and miscellaneous software tools. The tablet itself is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The display rocks a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels (224 ppi density).

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and a microSD card slot. The back holds a 2MP camera, while the front features a 0.3MP VGA one. The latest Tizen 2.1 is at the driver’s seat as one would expect from a developer unit. Samsung and Intel are hoping developers would put more effort in optimizing their apps for tablets, using this tablet.

Pricing for the Tizen slate is undisclosed, but it’s good to see that both Samsung and Intel are hard at work on developing the platform. Systena isn’t the first company that comes to mind when speaking of Tizen, but Samsung is yet to announce a smartphone that’s running the young OS.
