Apple iPhone 5 bill of materials estimated at $199, still promises immense profits for Apple

Just like it did with the iPhone 4S, iSuppli has put up an preliminary estimate of the iPhone 5′s Bill of Materials (BOM).

According to the preliminary report, the iPhone 5 carries a BOM of just $199, while the manufacturing costs additional $8. This makes it just $11 more expensive than the iPhone 4S.

The price bump is due to the new LTE chip and the in-cell touch packaging used in the iPhone 5. Here’s a detailed list, containing the estimated prices of each component.

Granted, Apple would’ve made more money if there wasn’t a manufacturing price increase, but the iPhone 5 will sure enough make up for this with record-breaking sales.
