Update to Google Messenger for Android goes live with new features

Google updated its popular Messenger app for Android. Version 1.2 of the application is now available to download and install from Google Play.

The new Google Messenger build brings a couple of new features to users. They include support for animated GIFs and reorganized settings menu. The latter now has an Advanced settings submenu.

Curiously, the official changelog for the application doesn’t mention the above mentioned new features. It includes the ability to update bubble colors for all contact alongside the usual bug fixes and stability improvements.

Google Messenger debuted as a standalone app alongside Android Lollipop. This means that the search giant can update its creation more frequently than the OS build itself. The app is available for all Android users.
