The Japanese manufacturer Toshiba announced that it will drastically reduce its consumer PC business. The move will include withdrawal from certain markets altogether.
Increased focus on the business market is the main reason behind the tech giant’s move. Gong forward, the company will reduce its consumer sales bases from 32 to 13.
The restructuring will result in a lay off of 900 Toshiba PC business employees. The PC division’s Japanese head office will also be scaled back – some of its functions will be moved abroad.
Toshiba aims to increase its sales to business entities to reach over 50% of all transactions in the fiscal year 2014.
