Sygic navigation app arrives on Windows Phone with free offline maps

The Sygic GPS navigation app that’s apparently amassed more than 75 million users on iOS and Android is now finally available for Windows Phone too. The app will provide some interesting competition for Nokia’s own solutions, now licensed to Microsoft for use in its mobile OS.

Sygic for Windows Phone comes with “forever free” GPS use, offline maps by TomTom, points of interest, route planning, and map updates.

If you want more, such as turn-by-turn navigation, then you’ll have to upgrade to that through an in-app purchase. This costs $19.99 for North America, and $24.99 for Europe. Also through in-app purchases you can get the Head-Up Display (HUD) feature for $9.99, and traffic information for $19.99 per year.

The app has a ton of things in tow, such as spoken street names, three alternative routes to choose from, easy route editing with drag and drop, waypoints for places you want to visit, the possibility to avoid toll roads, dynamic lane guidance, a Junction View that highlights highway exits, warnings for exceeded speed limits and for fixed speed cams, police trap warnings from other drivers, 3D cities and landscapes, pedestrian navigation, optimized graphics for high-res displays, and car audio integration via Bluetooth or cable.
