In a bid to reduce traffic accident casualties, Samsung Argentina mounted displays on large trucks to make them “transparent.” The idea dates back to the Transparentius concept by Art Lebedev from 2009.
Dubbed Samsung Safety Truck, the Korean giant’s setup is quite simple and consist of a camera placed in the front of the truck and four large displays on its back. The latter are connected to show footage captured by the camera to cars that are located behind the truck.
Samsung’s solution will be particularly useful in countries with one-lane roads. It allows drivers to see what’s ahead of them, thus allowing them to make a better judgment before attempting to overtake.
The company is reportedly trying to obtain regulatory approval for its concept. Here’s hoping that we’ll see it implemented soon in real life.
