Like its predecessor, the freshly announced Samsung Galaxy S5 Active is a more rugged version to the already robust SM-G900. The smartphone is exclusively available for AT&T in the United States for the time being.
Visually, the Samsung Galaxy S5 looks worthy of being a Chuck Norris companion, particularly in the camouflage color scheme worn by our review unit. The new color will likely not appeal to everyone, though we found it to be quite the conversation starter.
Samsung Galaxy S5 Active in the flesh
Hardware-wise the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active is almost completely identical to the regular model. It features Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC, 5.1” Full HD Super AMOLED display, and 16MP camera with 4K video capture.
As befitting a rugged smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active is MIL-STD-810G certified. This means that the handset can handled salt, dust, humidity, rain, vibration, solar radiation, transport and thermal shock. The water resistance level of the newcomer has remained at IPX7 – the same as in the regular Samsung Galaxy S5.
