A hardware QWERTY device is probably the last missing piece from Samsung’s impressive, dual-core Android lineup in the United States. Today, we have the Samsung Captivate Glide for AT&T on out hands. With a slide-out QWERTY on board, the smartphone should be the answer to the prayers of quite a few users out there.
In terms of specs, the Captivate Glide has taken a sharp departure from its Exynos and Qualcomm packing siblings. The smartphone packs an NVIDIA Tegra 2 CPU with two 1GHz cores, which makes it a rather close relative to the Samsung Galaxy R. There is a gig of RAM on board, along with 8GB of built-in memory. The latter can be further expanded via a microSD card slot. The screen of the device is a 4″ Super AMOLED unit with WVGA resolution. There is an 8MP camera on the back, complemented by a 1.3MP front-facing unit. The phone is powered by a 1650mAh battery.
The hardware QWERTY of the Captivate glide is one of the most comfortable ones we’ve seen in quite some time. Its buttons have a pleasant, soft-feel touch to them and are perfectly spaced. It takes only a couple of minutes to get comfortable with the entire operation.
The Samsung Captivate Glide comes with Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, dressed in Samsung’s own TouchWiz 4.0 launcher. We have prepared a video of the device in action for you. Check it out below.
