Ritot is a unique smart band concept with a built-in pico projector

You may have seen projection clocks, but what if you could wear one of those on your hand? That’s what the makers of Ritot are campaigning for on IndieGoGo – a smart band that uses a projector to cast a big, readable notifications on your wrist.

It has to be said the prototypes look much better than regular smart bands – an aluminum ring covered in leather, the Ritot can pass for a fashion accessory.

Touch the button or shake your wrist however and the built-in pico projector will activate and display messages, reminders, Facebook and Twitter messages, weather alerts and notifications from apps. The smart band will work with Android, iOS and Windows Phone smartphones.

It’s waterproof as well so you can take it jogging or swimming, there is even a dedicated sport version in the works (covered in plastic and rubber instead of metal and leather). However, neither version seems to work as even a simple step counter, let alone more advanced features like a heart rate monitor.

The battery is enough to last 150 hours in projection mode and 1 month in standby mode. It’s recharged wirelessly using the dedicated pad. The pad also displays the time and has a built-in alarm clock. It can also adjust the settings of the Ritot – you can puck between 20 projection colors, pick left or right-handed use.

The Ritot IndieGoGo campaign has passed its funding goal (it’s at 280% funded at the time of this writing). The finished product should ship in late January or February next year. You can back Ritot for $120 if you want one, $200 for two. The planned retail price after the campaign is $160 per unit.
