Olympus has announced the new TG-1 HS, which is a higher-end model in their rugged Tough series of cameras. As you can expect, the camera is designed to be waterproof, shockproof, freezeproof, crushproof and dustproof.
The TG-1 HS has a 12 megapixel 1/2.3-inch BSI-CMOS sensor with 4x optical zoom. The lens has a maximum aperture of F2.0, a first for a rugged camera, and a shutter speed of 1/2000 to 4 seconds. The TG-1 HS is compatible with converter lenses that allows you to attach waterproof fisheye lens or teleconverter lens. The TG-1 HS can also record videos in 1080p30 mode.
The TG-1 HS is waterproof up to 40 feet but you can also get a underwater housing designed for the camera that will allow you to go up to 135 feet. The TG-1 HS is shockproof and can survive a drop of 6.6 feet, freezeproof up to -10 degree Celsius and crushproof up to a weight of 100kg.
On the back is a 3-inch 610k dot OLED display with an anti-reflective protective layer for scratch resistance. The camera lens is also water repellent to prevent water droplets from staying on the lens. Lastly, there is a built-in GPS and compass for geo-tagging your images.
The Olympus TG-1 iHS will go on sale in June and will cost you $399.99.
