NVIDIA drops SHIELD price to $299, releasing on June 27

NVIDIA has announced that it will be selling the SHIELD for $299, starting June 27. The device first went on pre-order back in May but it seems the $349 price tag didn’t sit too well with prospective buyers so now we have a price cut even before the launch of the device.

The NVIDIA SHIELD is a first of its kind device where it is a handheld gaming console running on Android. It’s also the first device to run on NVIDIA’s new Tegra 4 processor, which has 4+1 CPU cores clocked at 1.9GHz and a stonking 72 core GPU. Other specifications include a 5-inch, 720p display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal memory with microSD card slot, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, microHDMI out (supports up to 4K resolution) and Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean.

You can pre-order the NVIDIA SHIELD at the new price from NVIDIA’s website. If you have pre-ordered it before, you will only be charged the new price.
