The Nokia Lumia 625 arrives as one of the final Lumia smartphones from Nokia, and looks to build on the name set forth by the budget-range Lumia 620.
This time around the device sports a larger display at 4.7-inches, but also features a 2000 mAh battery. With such a hefty battery having to only power a dual-core device, we expected great battery perfomance and the Lumia 625 delivered.
The Lumia 620 was able to achieve an appalling overall endurance score of 36h in its own battery test, but the Lumia 625 has several key differences over its predecessor. Besides the bump in screen size and battery capacity, the processor has also been upgraded to a dual-core 1.2GHz, and there’s even LTE support thrown in.
When it comes to how these changes play out in terms of real world performance, Nokia hit the sweet spot when it comes to 3G talk time. The Lumia 625 was able to top out our charts with a yet unheard talk-time of almost 31 hours. Wow!

Our browser test brings things back down to earth, as the Internet Explorer mobile browser was able to muster up just over 7 hours worth of life in our test. The Nokia Lumia 625 may come with a larger display, but it still managed to score double the time posted by the Lumia 620.

Having the screen constantly on obviously spells an entirely different story for the Lumia 625, as the device again produces middle-of-the-road results when it comes to video playback. We were able to achieve right around 6:30 hours before running down to 10% battery life, after which point most smartphones refuse to play videos.

Standby performance on the Lumia 625 was also about standard, and when combined with the stellar talk time and average video and browser tests, we get an overall rating of 51 hours. This means that you should get just over two days of usage before you have to charge your device if you do an hour each of talking, browsing, and watching videos per day.
If you use your phone to do a lot of talking and little else, then it’s hard to beat the excellent 3G talk time offered by the Lumia 625. The 2000 mAh battery gives you great endurance if you make a lot of voice calls, and offers decent enough standby times as well. It doesn’t do as well with video playback and web browsing, although in both regards it performs better than its Lumia 620 predecessor despite its larger display.
Be sure to check out our full review for more on the Nokia Lumia 625.
