Before there was Angry Birds or Plants vs. Zombies, there was Snake. One of the two games found on old Nokia phones (the other one being Space Impact), Snake is single-handedly responsible for taking away many hours of precious time from people’s lives, none of which they regret because it was just so much.
Unfortunately, you don’t get Snake on Nokia phones these days. Not the old fun one, anyway. And Nokia seems to understand how much people miss it. So they have brought it back, but it’s not on their phones anymore but on Facebook.
It’s now a Flash-based game that can be controlled by the arrow keys on your keyboard. The Snake looks a bit different. It’s made out of tiles that you find on Windows Phone and it is going after presents, you know, it being Christmas and all. And there are a few other changes as well. What hasn’t changed is the fun factor and you’ll be amazed just how much fun this game still is, which shows that the really good things tend to stand the test of time.
Now there are a few things to remember here. First of all, you cannot increase or decrease the speed of the snake. Secondly, you cannot go through walls and come out from the other side, so you need to stay from it. Next, if you’re aiming for a high score, keep in mind that the keyboard response might not be very quick, so make your moves accordingly. And lastly, the scoreboard moves a bit differently here. It’s constantly moving and getting the presents makes it move faster, which means you can rack up a high score simply by staying alive long enough.
After you’re done you can share your score with others. Thankfully, you don’t need to ‘Like’ the page in order to play the game. In fact, you don’t even need to have a Facebook account, which means anyone with the Flash Player plugin and a keyboard can play it.
You can give it a go in the link below. Do remember that it is very addictive.
