Amazon expands Kindle Fire HD availability to over 170 new countries

When the Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ were launched last year, they went on sale only in a handful of countries around the world. Now, almost eight months since the product was officially announced, Amazon has gone for a more global release.

The Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ are now available for pre-order in over 170 countries and will start shipping on June 13. To see if the two models are available in your region, check www.amazon.com. Customers in Ireland and Gibraltar can get it from www.amazon.co.uk, customers in Austria and Luxembourg from www.amazon.de and for customers in Monaco from www.amazon.fr.

The Kindle Fire HD is available in the US for $199 and $229 for 16GB and 32GB respectively. The Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ is available for $269 and $299 for 16GB and 32GB respectively.
