HTC and TomTom have teamed up to provide navigation software on HTC’s smartphones. The HTC Desire HD and Desire Z will be the first beneficiaries of this duo – they will come preloaded with TomTom maps out-of-the-box.
There’s no info if HTC other phones (especially the Windows Phone 7 ones) will be getting TomTom maps. So far all we know is HTC Locations (as they’ve called the software) will be available on the Desire HD and Desire Z in Europe and Asia but HTC plans to expand this to future phones and new regions too.
Here’s the gotcha – maps and other location content will come preloaded sure, but if you want turn-by-turn navigation, you’ll still need to buy a license and download it through HTC Locations or HTC Sync.
