Canon’s press event at CES today saw the unveiling of three new point and shoot cameras. The company introduced the PowerShot N100, SX600HS and ELPH 340HS to extend its mid-range offerings.
The PowerShot N100 has square design that is quite similar to the previous N series models. The camera sports a 3-inch touchscreen display, which flips up to 90 degrees and comes with a 12 megapixel CMOS sensor, DIGIC 6 processor and a f/1.8-5.7 optically stabilized 5x zoom lens. The new model also has supports WiFi connectivity and with NFC around, you are just a tap away from transferring your images and videos wirelessly.
Canon PowerShot SX600 HS
The SX600HS comes with new design elements and the hardware specifications of the point and shoot camera includes a 3-inch LCD display, 16-megapixel CMOS sensor, DIGIC 4+ processor and an f/3.8-6.9 18x optical zoom lens. Just like the N100, the SX600HS also has built-in WiFi and NFC support for transferring data without any hassle.
Canon has designed a new mobile device connect button that allows you to access wireless features such as app control and uploads quickly. There are two prominent shoot modes – Hybrid Auto and Smart Auto, where you can records four second videos before each still photo with the first mode while the latter offers you to shoot in 32 pre-defined shooting modes.
Canon PowerShot ELPH 340 HS
The ELPH 340HS is the third addition of the day and the portable camera comes to you with a 3-inch LCD display, 16 megapixel CMOS sensor, DIGIC 4+ processor and a 12x f/3.6-7.0 optical zoom lens. Like the previous two models, 340HS also features WiFi and NFC connectivity along with Hybrid Auto and Smart Auto shooting modes.
Canon PowerShot N100 is priced at $350 and will be available in Black and White color options when it hits the stores in May. The SX600 HS is a much cheaper option and the cam comes to you with a price tag of $250. There will Red, Black and White variants to choose from, when it starts shipping in the month of February. Lastly, the ELPH 340HS will hit the stores in March with $200 tag and the camera will be available in Purple, Black and Silver variants.
