Warner Bros. Games Montreal have announced the newest installment in the highly popular and critically acclaimed series of Batman games. After Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, Arkham Origins will be the third game in the series, however, it will serve as the prequel to the first two, as you can guess from the name.
Arkham Origins takes place several years before the events of Arkham Asylum and features a much younger Batman, facing his enemies for the first time. The two main antagonists of the game are Black Mask and Deathstroke, with the former being more prominent of the two. The game will take place within Arkham City like the previous one.
One notable difference between this game and the previous two is that Rocksteady, the studio that developed the other two games is not involved with the development of Origins. The game will instead be developed by Warner Bros. Games Montreal instead. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, although it remains to be seen whether Warner Bros. can maintain or surpass the standards set by Rocksteady with the series.
Arkham Origins will be released on the PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and the Wii U on October 25. Along with the main game, there will also be a spin-off title called Arkham Origins Blackgate. Blackgate takes place after the events of Origins and will be exclusive to the PSVita and the 3DS. This game will feature 2.5D top-down, isometric view, which should be interesting.
