Android 3.0 Honeycomb ported on Nexus One, port still at very early stages

It turns out that Android 3.0 Honeycomb is not just for tablets – XDA-Developers already have an alpha version of a Honeycomb ROM running on the Google Nexus One.

The screen on the Nexus One is too small for comfortable use of the Honeycomb UI, but I think that the possibility of such a ROM making it to the tablets that don’t have Honeycomb is more exciting…

It’s still pretty early and many things don’t work yet – they’ve barely got data connectivity working. Here are a few screenshots, just keep in mind that you’ll be seeing this on a 3.7” screen.

Of course, the Gingerbread and Honeycomb lines will eventually merge with the next Android version (‘Ice Cream’ or some other dessert with ‘i’). Whether or not that will make it to older tablets, though, is another matter.

So, keep your fingers crossed that someone at XDA-Developers will figure out how to port Honeycomb on some of the older tablets.

Anyway, here’s a video of Android 3.0 running on the Nexus One.
