Acer allegedly working on a $149 quad-core tablet

Taiwanese-based Acer has joined a growing list of manufacturers allegedly working on an iPad Mini competitor. According to a report from DigiTimes, the rumored tablet will also compete against the likes of Google Nexus 7 in terms of pricing.

The upcoming tablet from Acer is said to sport a display from AU Optronics, which is manufactured by OEM Wistron. Furthermore, the device is rumored to feature a 7.9″ display with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels, 1.2 GHz MediaTek Quad-core MT8125 processor along with 1 GB of RAM, 5-megapixel rear camera, VGA front camera, 16 GB inbuilt memory with microSD card support and the other usual connectivity options.

Acer’s new tablet will supposedly measure 208.7 x 145.7 x 10.5 mm and be powered by Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The juice for the tablet is expected to be provided by a 3,250mAh battery. The tablet is said to carry a price tag of a mere $149 and is expected to be officially launched in the upcoming days.
