Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi’s capable Tegra K1-based Mi Pad tablet has finally made its way to western markets. Offering iPad mini-esque specs at a price that’s considerably lower, the Mi Pad is certainly an interesting proposition.
Currently, Xiaomi’s official shop is listing the 64GB Mi Pad for about $380 (€290), and can ship to most countries in Europe for $19, if you’re willing to wait 7-20 days for its arrival. Faster shipping options are available also, including 3-7 business day DHL delivery for $59.90.
But what’s even better is that Xiaomi will be shipping the device from its EU warehouse, bypassing regional customs fees and taxes, which the company compensates for by adding $48 on top of the US price. The latter currently stands $329 before taxes and shipping.
This latest trend bodes well for European customers of Xiaomi’s products, as the Chinese company has until now had limited interest in availability for regions outside of Asia.
