I hope its a lot faster, and consumes less resources.. and hopefully that'll help notebook battery life. Only then will Windows be truly better than a Mac OSX. Btw, I'm a Windows 7 user.

I'm not seeing any significant win apart from maybe MS trying to battle it out on tablets and/or non-desktop PC/handheld form factors.Which still remains to be seen as MS tries to solidify their touch UI's core philosophy via WP7.There's the beginning acid test.

How about innovating on NOT demanding more RAM on x86 ver for instance and improve on average sys reqs? That would be something (I'm not kidding).Plus will we be seeing the same "editions" circus with piss poor value additions on top of x86 and x64 flavours?Editions' and Office license MSRPs.Deal maker or breaker.Or it's gonna be XP all over again where people won't even bother to move from 7.Let alone corporations. Why should they? Why fix what's relatively not broken for them?Only the most specialized sets of knowledge workers today are still hook-tied on using Win applications with no compromise. Not for long anyways that's about to change.Just a question of "when?".Once SMEs realize that they can achieve similar efficiency from Office's mostly OSS and free alternatives available on current mainstream desktop Linux for example, only the most stubborn or heavily MS incentivized/cultured companies can afford to stay.If anything they'll say "F**k it! Let's get us some Macs and call it a day".Just so that clients can walk in, see them shiny Mac rigs and get wet crotches.Done deal.

I'm still on Win 7 btw.I'm just saying that once people can get over PC gaming and can find alternatives on diff OSes (which by now it's NOT a hard path to take at all.FUDs be damned) especially ones that runs better on acceptably current hardware without forcing them to add to their per annum PC sys change expenses, they'll see the light.

It's up to MS to flash that torch through Win 8.What say you Mr.Ballmer?
