it is true that Nokia would be taking a huge risk when choosing WP7. But remember that WP7 is also new on the market and we haven't seen it's full potential. I think there is still a good chance it both companies would work hard together to come up with a device that would hit Google Android and Apple IOS.

As for Nokia Android, I would disagree and just like what others have said, its too late for Nokia to join the Android fad. I think if they can come up with a unique device, then it will join the ranks of the former.

Actually Nokia can dispose the Symbian completely, its getting worse and worse and its pretty much old school. Even the Symbian ^3 is a garbage, it wont get any better soon. So for those Nokia fans, be patient and Nokia might turn the table again this time and hit the right spot.

Microsoft and Nokia hire people that want to/have to do their job. It just doesn't make for an outstanding product. It's all very corporate and in the big picture, it's only about the money. In my opinion, they should [completely/entirely/fully/100%] split their infrastructures into parts. There should be a part made ONLY of corporate heads who decide how and where to sell...and a [COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT and] separate part consisting of geeks-gurus-developers-designers that LOVE to better themselves and impress others at the same time...like me and powerpoint animations (I make some killer ppt's!). I cannot stress enough how important a factor this is.

[In this context] someone who looks to please themselves will DO great things. Someone who looks to impress others will MAKE great things. The combination of the two would make a sensationally powerful individual [that I wish I could someday be]. It's a yin and yang thing at work. The two forces (self improvement and need to impress) are two ends of a spectrum. Like the student who studies to better his grades, and the student who parties to impress his friends. A combination is all powerful and almost devine...that one hot chic that's smart AND likes to party.

In short, it's no longer about the product anymore. It's about the money. They need to go back to the product...back to Nokia. Steve Jobs fired half his board when he returned to Apple. He started from the product and worked outwards to advertising, distribution etc. Hence the Massively Successful iPod 1stGen.

Another example is 3D movies. IMAX 3D is the real thing and takes time to produce a movie. In the end it looks bloody brilliant!! Digital 3D is a quick rendition of a 2D movie into something that tries to look 3D. Like all these new movies that have been coming out. Most of the time they suck!! It's movie makers trying to get a product out QUICKLY and CHEAPLY just to make a quick buck.

Avatar took 2 years to complete. Time well invested. It topped the max-grossings chart in a little over 3 months (what it took Titanic 10 yrs to do).

I know there are other variables and factors and equations and blah blah blah...All I'm saying is hire the people that are passionate about Nokia and it's 'high statured' presence (like me) and not people that are 'just great' at their job. Throw all the aorporate bullsh* out the door for once, and try to think about how A (singular) Nokia product can make you happy. Screw market niches and price points. Create a solid product, THEN worry about all the other stuff.

As someone who has used both android and WM7, i have to say i wholeheartedly believe Nokia have made the right decision. Everybody knows that android is just a poor man's iphone; windows 7 however is truly unique. every manufacturer (and their uncle) have a droid device out not to mention that android is almost incurably fragmented and disarayed: Windows 7 is still in infancy, just watch this space.
