True, but if the mobile sector advances this high to break into the xbox 360 and ps3 like quality games (in about 2 years) you can be assured that Microsoft and Sony will do something mindblowing to even the massive gap between mobile and console again!

The triple-core PowerPC CPU and the GPU on the Xbox is already dated way back in 2006, gameplay-wise, console have an edge, but looking at the rate mobile devices grow in the past couple years, I think is safe to say, graphic-wise anyway, that it already surpass this gen consoles. A few demos of various mobile game (Is it way back in E3? Can't remember) looks good, say on par with the Xbox. I say Q2 2013, we'll get something on par, if not above. Consoles are bound to be obsolete anyway.

That maybe sound stupid but then again, saying that next year hardware will feature a FullHD screen and CPU that can surpass Intel Atom is deemed insane a year ago.

Why even bother taking his comment seriously lol....

and wtf no, mobiles/tablets are just now entering into the graphics and gaming capacity of the PS2 and the original Xbox era....

iPad 4 (best device in phones/tablets for gaming) can't match anything on the 360 or ps3.....

At this rate, we will see Halo 4 and Uncharted 3 and Metal Gear Solid 4 like games on mobile devices when the ps4 and xbox 720 are dying out....

''which means just like on a console there won’t be much flexibility in changing the hardware or the software but in return you get a more streamlined, simplified experience that current desktop PCs lack''

Knowing Valve, they will come out with the steam box to be sufficiently if not completely upgradable, also I 100% agree with the line of simplified and streamlined experience about PC's
No matter how much epic graphics you get, stuffing quad intel xeon processors with GTX 690's quad sli, PC gaming will still remain complicated for the average user.....

Most people still relish the fact of just buying a CD, popping the thing in and voila your good to go, you just don't get that with PC

The 'steam box' looks as if it might really change this.....

Nope. Trust me, evberybody wants versatility. Being able to tweak your graphics, or modding is the main reason why PC gaming will be the the best way to go!

You took the fanboyism stupidity to a whole new level. You do realize that XBox knows about anti-aliasing (about 4x), anisotropic filtering, ambient occlusion, etc... All of that outputed via a 576p-to-720p or native 720p.
