The decision to allow develops to write paid-apps is a good thing for Ubuntu users/app developer perspective, since this will encourage more developers to write high quality softwares that are typically seen on Windows and Macs, whether we like it or not, There are paid apps that are of really high quality, especially the games and several tools like Photoshop etc and Android is a living proof that all linux distros should do the same thing. Just make sure we have plenty of free apps and the OS should stay free as always. Once Ubuntu Software Center starts publishing Photoshop, Corel Draw etc and Games lke Crysis, COD, BFBC i'll dump Windows for good.

I'm actually shocked to see MACos users even bash linux. Is the re anything they won't bash?

First of all both macos and linux have the same open source background and the same unix grandparent. The only difference is, until iPhone MACos was nothing but an open source failure... open source ripoff that you have to pay for.
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tUw4rnYD3uA/Tngr4fFu05I/AAAAAAAABJA/tKsqJism7Mk/s1600/open+source.jpg

As for software, yes there are categories that are scarce on MAC:
-you can't program chipsets on a mac and do other complicated electronics engineering tasks
-you don't have medical software that runs on a mac, seriously do yourself a favor and go to the imaging or ICU section of a hospital, your life runs on windows
-and you don't have games on a mac, the fact that the last 4 years some titles are being ported doesn't make up for hundreds never-aging games.
-video editing, there's just no equivalent to virtual dub. Virtual dub is leaps and bounds above the latest "Final cut".

Linux? ever heard of wine? Yes, there are outdated versions even for mac but they won't solve the lack of chipset level access that you get plenty on linux and medical software that connects to special hardware.

If you pay for macos, you pay for riped off hard work of multiple linux foundations and developers.

And before proudly showing up with a mac displaying an x-ray, remember my browser can display a .jpg too but it can't actually take an x-ray or MRI or anything in that domain.

A PC running mcos is nothing more than an expensive youtube & facebook machine for most and a video editing and design tool, courtesy of adobe (not for long I reckon after the boot they've got with flash) for very few.
