Toshiba upgrades its Kira Ultrabook with Haswell processor, brings it to UK

Toshiba’s Kira Ultrabook has been available in the United States for quite a while now, and the good news for all the fans waiting in the United Kingdom is that the Windows 8.1 ultrabook will finally debut in Britain next month.

The Kira Ultrabook variant hitting the stores of the UK will feature an upgraded Intel Core i7 Haswell processor out of the box to make up for the delay.

Apart from an upgraded CPU, the other hardware configurations of Toshiba Kira Ultrabook remain similar to the US variant. The machine sports a 13.3-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and is protected by Corning concore glass. The portable computer houses 8 GB of DDR3L RAM, 256 GB mSATA SSD and Harman Kardon stereo speakers with DTS studio sound effects.

There are three USB 3.0 ports, an SD card reader and an HDMI socket. The wireless connectivity options include dual band ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, Intel Wireless display and miracast readiness. Kira has a built-in HD web camera with dual microphones and the keyboard is backlit, just like the one on the MacBook’s. The machine measures 316 x 207 x 9.5/19.8mm and weighs about 1.35kg.

Toshiba Kira Ultrabook will cost £1,299 (about $2131) in the UK, when it hits the stores next month.
