agree, a factor that hurts the new Z is the lens they are using. It is extremely inferior in todays terms. I dare say phone cams found in the Galaxy S3 does a better job. Not sure how come Sony is not allowed to licence Carl Zeiss designs for their mobiles. This would be a good step to resolving poor image quality we are seeing here

instead of the pureview branding, it should have been called “steadyview” or maybe “superview”. I think it is silly they used the same branding for different technologies

Nokia 808, such a small optic, and 41MP. It is very hard to believe the optics can even handle such resolutions, but it can! It is like carrying around a 4 year old medium format camera with a fixed lens in your pocket!

the smaller pixels in the 808 seems better quality than these samples from the Z. Not to praise the 808 too much, it does have negatives in relation to camera. For instance in full res modes, anything above ISO 200 and it cannot compete against entry level DSLR, also any ISO be it in pureview or full res beyond ISO 400 may require graduated post processing for the excessive blue tint noise due to sensor circuits heating up close to the right hand side of the sensor.

agree, especially since Sony do make dedicated digicams. I just do not understand why they keep playing down the camera tech in their mobile phones!

good call, the camera focal length in this new phone does seem possibly wider than the nokia n8, but the pixel quality of this new Z in the corners is definitely lacking compared to the center, plus even with excellent lighting, there is still excessive noise reduction being used, creating a water colored artificial look to the images. The rather old Nokia n8 is alot sharper throughout the frame, and noise reduction can only be noticed at high sensor sensitivities past ISO 200

his opinion is based on the fact that different people have different opinions, let’s talk about the food thing I talked about, different people have different tastes, that’s why someone can say some food tastes bad, while another one can like it, you just can’t understand anything, period
