But any computer with a detacble touchscreen with the computer in the screen is seen as a laptop.
So there are those from HP, Ace, Samsung, Asus, and the list goes on, that are defined as tablets, altough they have a nice keyboard attached to them.

Have you seen the flood of windows tablets?
or have you mistaken them for laptops as the screen is detachble?
Its defined as a tablet, and you can use it that way. Some come with i7 core CPUs, some with i5, some with newest generation of atom processors.
They do most of what most people do on a computer, offer keyboard and touchpad.
The top end ones can even do some heavy image manipulation and some music production on them, but at the cost of batterylife. But in tablet mode, they are often docked with an extra battery.. besides most work like that is done when plugged in to the socket, anyway.

By reasoning, tablets are all the devices with detachable touch-screen, and that segment will grow hugh, as components improve.
That 7.9" idea seem quite confused.
The only logical reason would be that due to 6" plus mobiles, 7" tablets have to move up a notch, to really feel bigger.
But I doubt 6" plus phones will sell that much, Note II + case is about all you can expect the average person to be able to handle.
But other than that, people who wants a tablet, that is portable, lightweight, fits any bag, and even some pockets, well then 7 inch tablets seems like the best choice, any added inch will also add weight. And you cant remove all the bezel around the screen on a two hand device, as tablets are.
So we would have the bigger detachable computer/tablets at about 11 up to aout 15, some special models going beyond that, for the consumer that wants a real laptop replacement.
And we will have the compact but yet pretty big screened devices at about 7"
