This marketing shit that you have to make a kind of product unique and different from the rest to be successful is so tiering. This is simply not true. What you have to do is make a nice and good product, better than most – and get it out before its too late. That is it period. If you make your smart phone different than the rest by make it worse, like not putting android in it – because you do not want to do like everybody else – and put bad symbian on it then you loose – if you do this enough – then you are dead!! Nokia is going down !! Just try to make good products and do not try to be different just to be different – that is just plain stupid.

I am fully aware that you have no choice but to answer on interviews but do exercise proper restraint.At the very least learn management PR and know when to provide plausible denial.

NEVER EVER OVER-PROMISE AND UNDER-DELIVER.Don’t waste your design team’s resources on NON-pressing matters.You f***ed up once.You don’t wanna f*** up again.

Get good and bring us the numbers for your WP7 turnaround namely phones.Get really really good at what you plan to tweak WP7 for and learn every single consumer winning touch UI element that you can gain access to.Get really really good to that point when you can prove that your WP7 products are strong enough with expertise gained to finally move onto a different form factor altogether.THEN YOU CAN TALK ABOUT TABLETS.

Because trust me by that time if you f*** up again, be prepared to be recorded into the annals of history as being that man who f***ed Nokia down to the ground.

and they should aim it at business users as well, i.e. very good office app integration. So far only Playbook has a very pro ‘business’ orientation. But don’t neglect ‘other media’ orientation either…
