As a VGN-Z owner. I'd say the new design is a few steps back. I bought my Z as a desktop replacement. Has everything in one compact, carbon fibre / aluminium body (eg, two GPUs, blu-ray), while being extremely portable at 1.5kgs AND NOT comprimising on performance (it's still comparable to SB i5 processors today). The fact they went spliting the optics and graphics like they have is, I guess personally, out of step.

Heck, Sony even advertises this machine as having 'regularly spaced screws'. For all I care, you know the company is in real strife if they use advert space to market something ridiculous like that...

I happen to own a 2-year old Z and that baby is still working great, wouldn't change it for any other, and from all other brands I would pick an HP as 2nd to Z. About Macs? What about them? LOL ;)

The old vaio Z series was a better laptop, HD screen just as small plus on board grafix. As if you dont get an on board grafix card. Im sorry but if im on the go I want dedicated grafix over 10mm thinner. If you want a good laptop get the top of the range S series. This Z series is a joke.
