If I could just get rid of all that metro crap completely, customize it to have most of the look and functionality of Windows98 (like I can with Windows 7), and NOT have too big compatibility issues with all the programs that I use daily, then I too would give Windows 8 a chance.
And this thing might make a good tablet pc ish thing.

Performance is a must. Battery life and everything be damned. They should make it removable and give us the option to attach larger batteries. I'm more worried about the cooling instead...

>shut up and take my money

Almost for me too. If they would have teamed up with Wacom to put in a pressure-sensitive digitizer pen and then I'd put Photoshop CS5 and Paint Tool SAI on it and OMAHGAWD ART TABLET! ASDFASDFASDF YESSS!
...but they didn't. so I'll wait for something else.

Battery life (namely, a lack of it) was my other concern. I'm not expecting an iPad battery life, but GREATER THAN 3 hours Web browsing is an absolute must. A weak battery life would be an instant deal breaker.
Don't disappoint your audience, Sony; you too, Microsoft.

if they manage to give a decent battery life with the i7 processor and 4gb ram then this is a true winner! i wonder though if the i7 is clocked at the normal speed or underclocked to 1.2-1.5 like the power saving versions used in notebooks,,

Over the years we have been treated (and spoilt) to a bevy of sleek and shiny products by Apple and Samsung, so in comparison the Vaio duo 11 mechanism appears crude. Also an option of a detachable keyboard is preferable so one can ditch the additional weight when just wanting to use the tablet...but I guess with the specs and ports on offer it has to come as a package.
