There is small point regarding GPU, i have to clarify :
Take 2010 as an example , Only Xperia users got best apps , right ? due to Xperia Play mainly.

Now , Take 2012 , Only Tegra 3 users got best apps , right ? due to Nvidia pushing devs.

This is ridiculous thing i find in android , If i get a tegra 3 device now and get a non-tegra 3 later , I must buy non-tegra app again and also that non-tegra will not run tegra app , so my progress will be lost and everything is chaos.

Good news , from gameloft is , they are making universal apps now , which means once i purchase an app , It will work forever on iPad or iPhone (since its universal app tailored for both tablet and phone experience) in future or present ones.Same applies to lot of apps as well , not just games.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"both are great in their own way"
>>Well , It is totally Personal and here is the reason :

In your Case , Customization and Openness over-weigh other things.
For me , Apps and Solid/Simple/Old UI over-weigh other things.

Priority wise , our priorities are different , So there is no winner or looser.

1 - Delayed updates...yeah, I agree on that, got non-Nexus devices it gets in the way (custom ROMs don't count obviously)...I've personally always been annoyed by it. Back/undo doesn't work? No idea what you're talking about, it always worked fine for me, even on my terrible HTC Wildfire (seriously, that thing is really bad on all levels)...also had a HTC Desire, HTC Desire HD, Galaxy S and Galaxy S2...a friend has a S3 aswell, but let's leave it out...and I've had an iPhone 4 for about a month aswell...all seemed to handle just fine when it comes to back/undo button (HTC Wildfire being the worst due to low-end hardware in it, HTC Desire being the best due to hardware button for back/undo)...no idea how Windows Phone works so cant comment much more.

App quality is a developer's job...if the developer has no idea what he/she is doing, that's his/her own problem and cant be passed to the OS unless there is not enough development documentation for it (which as far as I know is not the base for both iOS and Android).

I don't use tablets (why would I when I can just get a netbook lol) so cant comment there aswell.

2 - Actually, design-wise 2.3 and 4.X haven't changed much if you ask me...I mean the menu is pretty much the same...the whole thing about it (other than bugfixes) was actually the hardware-interface-acceleration, which actually IMPROVED apps a lot (example would be smoother scrolling in Twitter when you decide to rapidly scroll to the bottom of the list).

3 - Well, ShadowGun: Dead Zone runs at 50-60fps on Medium settings (game released a few weeks ago...oh and it hits solid 60fps at all times on low details), Need for Speed Most Wanted runs with the same FPS (again, about a month ago)...Asphalt 7 runs fine except on 2 tracks (though it's purely Gameloft's problem due to terrible coding)...feel free to suggest me something specific if you know of a case that should perform bad.

Oh and don't bring "interface lag" into the idea...I'll be honest, on a HTC Desire - sure, you can see it...on a HTC Desire HD - well...maybe, at times...Galaxy S2 and S3...nope, sorry, you need to REALLY force that as an argument (not to mention GO Launcher EX users don't see it at all)...since "Project Butter" doesn't seem to affect more than the interface (from what I've seen), I'll just leave it aside.

Naming a device...there is no simple answer, I'll have to use multiple picks since as you probably know some games drop support for a specific GPU...hmmm...maybe a Tergra device...but I have no idea what's the case on those, so if I have to pick just one, perhaps I'd go with the Galaxy S...doesn't get max graphical quality, maybe there are a few games that don't run at all, but for the most part it still works just fine...if we DON'T look at games though, even my old HTC Desire still works just fine...not fluid (though the Desire HD is great) but there are no apps that don't work or have big issues on it (except Firefox which doesn't work at all)...as I said, it's kind'a hard to give an example since there are just so many devices and all have different hardware...which brings me to a certain point - Apple has essentially 4 devices total (though I heard they're dropping the 3GS support, correct me if I'm wrong), so optimizing the OS/games/apps is by far easier (explains why many games are released a bit later on Android)...and that might be a good point for iOS if we look at it like that (but it can also be a bad point since it limits the user choice to "expensive devices only" while with Android you can get a specific device for your need).

...anyway, now that I look at it, this has been going on for a while...seems like we cant win over eachother, how about we settle for "both are great in their own way"?
(not sure if you took classes on debate, but if you haven't, you should, seems like you're good at it...would've been awesome to "run against you" in a debate back when I was at university)

1.I do agree , its optional but android is doing it with lots of disadvantages :
a)Delayed update due to skins of OEMs and Bloat.
Nexus doesn't ship here , So i can only choose from Samsung or HTC or Sony.
b)Worst design principles i have ever seen , back/undo button doesn't work properly (if u want a good example , use back/undo button on WP , that really deserves name , back/undo button).
c)Terrible App Quality in some cases.
d)Tablet eco system is too bad (worst tbh) because of blown up apps.

If u balance a,b,c,d points with Customization , Customization loses out.

2.Google has no specific design until ICS and that's why App Quality , like i said , not upto mark.It includes both phones and tablets.

3.Just run a latest graphic intensive game on s2 (which came over 2 months period) and tell me its stable or just browse a website and say its not lagging.(i could not name an app in android like iLife suite or iWork , so i have to mention a game) Easy answer , Even Google demonstrated with project butter to show how terrible ICS is and inspite of it , It still stutters which is a bad experience on user , not to mention 4.2 update which slowed down Nexus 7 dramatically.

For me , Those disadvantages of android turn me off , i simply can't ignore those issues , I absolutely like android as a short term device for an year or two but in long term , iOS wins , hands down , Can u name a single android device of 2010 that can run latest apps without performance issues ? Take 3GS as example which is from 2009 , it can handle everything smoothly even to-date (navigation around phone is slow but app performance didn't change at all since 2009)

1 - You're not the standard for the industry, so argument is invalid. One person likes it, other person doesn't need it. So not having it is a bad thing, having it is a good thing (since it's always optional).

2 - Freemium and ad-supported produces just as much, and even in some cases far more income than payed/paymium apps (that's why you see MMOs go free-to-play a lot lately, and nearly none want you to subscribe)...I'll accept your point of view, but will advise you to broaden your view beyond basic business models.

3 - 95% of the stuff on both markets is cross-platform...there is no longer a big enough difference between the stuff on each (you CAN make a point that iOS tends to get GAMES first, but they arrive on Android nonetheless...and sometimes cheaper)...and stability wise, nope, I don't see your point here, what are you comparing? A low-tier Android phone with a 4S maybe? Or Android 2.1 to iOS4? Then yeah probably...but compare a Galaxy S2 to a 4S and I guarantee you'll find only extremely obscure differences, most of them being a clear fault of the game/app developer. Oh you got the viewpoint wrong, iOS is viewed to be the thing people who want "fancy stuff" get, Android is viewed as the thing "nerds" get (obviously both are stereotyping now).

And yes, I never said iOS or Android was clearly superior to the other, I said each is superior in a SPECIFIC point, to the level where there is no clear winner (though I believe everyone can agree Windows Phone so far was definitely on 3rd place) and all depends on a per-user case.

1.OK , i used Symbian for many years but i always used default theme , even though there were Live wallpapers for SE phones back in 2006 , Its simply a personal preference i like to keep everything neat without those shiny wallpapers or moving things on home screen. One day i did customize the phone and kept a live wallpaper but after one hour i switched back and never looked back.

2.i never spoke primarily about income , if u re-read my comment , it was about Android app designs that were of terrible quality which has resulted in low incomes and also google's confusion in defining android design.

3.If i want a bunch of icons on home screen , why would i go for android ? I can simply get iOS because it has the best apps and good stability.Android is meant for people who want fancy things with phones like customization.Yes i like good old fashioned 90s style and skeumorphism too , because that's how i like it and i lived with windows for such a long time (even though i am not comparing but just saying that i had chance for widgets on windows but i still didn't keep them).

Customization is not an advantage or disadvantage , its not a fact , Its OPINION.

Its like saying , Open platform is better than Closed or Vice-versa .Customization is exactly like Open Vs Closed platform argument , both have pros and cons.At the end , both platforms i use are closed (iOS and Windows) , For me Closed platform wins , So can i use closed platform as an advantage here ? NO and Same applies to customization , its simply a matter of our thought.

For my friend , Lunix and Android works better , both are Open platforms , for him Open works better.

You're actually wrong on two things:

1 - don't compare desktop OS to a mobile OS. EVER. Why? user experience and expectations are on a completely different level, you cant compare a Ferrari (fast and comfortable car) and a Scania truck. (big and great for transporting cargo).

2 - Android developers are not failing on anything, no idea where you got that idea from, but recently, here on GSMArena there was an article showing that free "freemium" apps generate by far more money on Android than they do on iOS...and as you probably seen yourself, excluding more "big budget" games, everything is going to the freemium path lately.

3 - Widgets not important? Live Wallpapers are not important? Are you mad bro? Seriously, I have no idea what you're thinking, but this specific part sounds like a kid trying to convince himself of something. "I have a Christmas tree" - "Cool...well, I have a DECORATED Christmas tree"...that's the idea, it's customization, you change the look and feel of the phone. Also, some widgets CAN replace the going-to-the-app itself (at least from the GO Launcher EX ones...oh and the Music player one aswell...and the internet one...and pretty much everything related to toggle-functions). Not to mention, the ones that DON'T like all this can just remove all but the main screen and have it as a good 'ol fashion 90s phone...except with a touch screen.

Feel free to prove me wrong, but I just see how that's gonna happen without any good arguments.
P.S. yes, Windows 8 is absolutely terrible. Went back to 7 myself after only 4 days.

So , Are u feeling bad because Windows is still maintaining that 15 year old UI ?

I don't feel need to change windows Because MS nailed the design in first place , so there is no need to change the UI and they were highly successful even after having same UI for 15 years and what happend to Windows 8 ? People don't like it because it has learning curve and also confusing to many.Reviews also say same.As far as i know , nearly 90% of all people i know use default windows 7 or classic windows theme (2000 theme) and also i never seen a single person using widgets.

Same applies to iOS.

But Android ? Only Google must know it because they still have design problems , They themselves don't have "definite design principle" , because Android is failing miserably in App Quality or App Income on developers side.3/4th Apps don't follow design guidelines and still use non-Halo.

And i also don't get , "Staring on home screen argument" , What do u people do staring at home screen seeing those live wallpapers and widgets ? You have to go inside app anyway , right ? You cannot escape apps.

If someone sends a mail , Widget show u the updated mails but can u escape from going into app ? You eventually have to enter inside the app and read the mail and also reply it inside the app itself. In my personal opinion , Real experience starts only when an app is launched.

While I get what you mean, customization may be a "personal thing" yes, but it's still a plus...iOS is stuck on a default UI (as far as I know at least), while if you don't like something about Android's looks, you just get a different launcher and change everything...for example GO Launcher EX, which actually if configuration properly can remove all the interface lag present in the default UIs on Android phones.
It's like in my car - I have bluetooth on my CD player, but I know I'm never going to need it myself...but it's still there and if I want to show-off, I'll still mention it as an advantage.
As for updates...I don't want to sound offensive or anything towards iOS (as I said it has it's good points), but the interface is begging to be updated...I know there are good things in the updates, but they're on part with Android (while one focuses of something, the other does something else, both leaving behind things people would like to see)

I just don't understand "customization" argument really.

"Customization" is totally personal preference , right ? (as far as I know) and you can't use YOUR opinion as an argument because different people have different opinions.

And another one is functionality , two things which I like in android and those are : setting for choosing default apps for browsing , video player etc. and second is , shortcut Wifi, bluetooth etc.

And three things I like in iOS and those are : No Bloat , and second is , Updates (don't say updates are bad and less incremental because ICS or JB brought nothing groundbreaking to any devices except "under-the-hood" improvements while 2.2 is the biggest update , I have ever seen on android till now).
Third is , "no stutter" which I have seen at some instances even on JB (stutters were reduced a lot compared to previous versions and also its nice to see google establishing a design to android with ICS and JB instead of moving back and forth , making confusion among app dev and users).
