I am totally confused. People have been telling me alternate definitions of hd display. does it require 300+ ppi fo phones or is it just 1080 pixels across or whatever. I got the hd info from two articles.
http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/13/lg-renames-optimus-lte-to-optimus-true-hd-lte-disses-samsungs/
the first article said that a true hd 1080p display was created by toshiba and how a 490+ ppi would be needed for it. And it links to the other which talks about the 6.1 inch tablet i spoke of before that did it.

How to define Retina Display ?
Distance from device + Ability of human retina to distinguish pixels ,
On iPhone 4 or 4S u need more than 20% than what they currently have in order to really use the term "retina display"
because we use phones little closer compared to distance we maintain while using tablets.

Tablets : They need around 260-270 ppi in order to crystal clear display to human eye.

For Example :
Galaxy Note is 5.3-inch 800 x 1280 pixels 285pi and we can easily call it retina display since distance we hold it (considering note as tablet).

I think 260-270 enough no need 300 or 400 ppi.

What i meant is , if u put more than that its just resource hog because our eyes cant distinguish beyond that extent.

Dude, on a 50" TV Full HD looks super clear... Apple having more pixels than that on a 10" tablet is just a marketing trick, to get people thinking, they have something special, even though your eye cannot see the difference, you brains still tell you, like you could, because you know, there is more, but you cannot see it... A resolution bigger than Full HD is complete nonsense on a 10" tablet...

Yes, that is 1080p, 1080 stands for the number of vertical lines and the p for progressive scan! That is 1080p, dont know, what you are talking about, probably Retina, but not 1080p^^

Why dont you look up what 1080p means, before you tell everyone your wrong info...

@google-328e2620074188087f2c2c3d87d3d13e:disqus Total nonsense... 1080p has nothing to do with ppi. 1080p means at least 1920x1080 pixels on the display and the p in 1080p stands for progressive scan, which is the way the picture is displayed, unlike interlaced pictures, like 1080i. If you buy a 55" Full HD TV you will never have anything close to 441ppi, dont know, where you got that from...?

no I'm saying you need 1 ppi of 489 to have a 1080p screen, i agree that 1920 x 1080 results in a 218 ppi, but that is not 1080p. Toshiba got 1080p with 2560 x 1440 which is a higher resolution but they were only did so with a 6.1 inch screen. One needs a way larger screen for 1080p. That mean a cpu probably equivalent to tegra 4 or an S5 at least
